Theme/Central Idea : The speaker in the poem is a teenager who is described as a very sensible child having some dilemma about making the right decisions. He understands the fact that taking decisions about his life is his own responsibility. He also knows that any wrong choice made by him might completely ruin his life. Hence he prays to God to guide him to follow the right path so that he will be able to lead a happy and successful life.
Rhyme Scheme : The rhyme scheme of the poem is ‘abcb’.
Figures of Speech : Apostrophe, Alliteration, Inversion and Metaphor are the figures of speech used in this poem.
Special Features : This is a short and sweet poem which beautifully underlines a teenager’s belief that a life can be best lived with God’s constant help and guidance. It has five stanzas, each having four lines. Though examples of Alliteration, Inversion and Metaphor are seen, yet the predominant tone which is maintained throughout the poem is that of Apostrophe. The child in the poem doesn’t want to repent of his actions in future, hence he pleads to the Almighty to help him make right decisions.

Why I like/dislike the poem : I like this poem because it is short and simple. As a teenager I can relate myself to the speaker in the poem. The language of the poem is lucid and easy to understand. The imagery used in the poem is also very appealing.
